Moving toward the undefended self — What does this ask of us?

The Ottawa Pathwork community is offering a series of free lecture discussions focused on becoming our undefended selves — free from the burden of our masks and the need to constantly defend against anything that we deem fearful or that threatens our self-will or pride. Instead, we are invited to embrace our vulnerability — to see it not as weakness, but as strength, and as the key to satisfying our longing for unity and connection.

With this goal in mind, we’ll explore the following areas:

  • The destructive nature of our defense mechanisms — our images, pseudo-solutions, and Idealized Self-Image
  • The steps to begin dismantling our defense system
  • What being undefended looks like in our everyday lives
  • How the courage to be vulnerable positively impacts all our relationships —including those with ourselves, our intimate partners, and God

~~~~~
In Lecture #250, we are recalled to the ultimate reality that we “live and move and have our being” in a creation that is penetrated by God’s love, so that “there is simply nothing to fear.
Our vision of this reality is blocked by the faulty beliefs and defenses we developed in our immature child response to painful childhood events/situations. We lose sight of the fact that the grace of God surrounds us and is present within us. The flow of our life force energy is obstructed by the resulting “iron wall” — our unconscious lower self illusion that we live in an impoverished inner and outer world. We build life patterns on these unconscious negative beliefs which ultimately are destined to crumble.
Lecture #250 gives us an overview of what we are about in this Pathwork process of self-transformation. We use our healthy adult ego to open ourselves to the help and inspiration of divine grace as we question our false beliefs, deconstruct our defenses, and thereby free our creative life force energy.
“…when people have lived through and fully assimilated the negative experiences,
they come around full circle to the light of love, truth, joy, peace, pleasure supreme,
eternal life, and wellbeing in all respects……therein lies grace.”
